Crittenden County Release Meanings
Leaving the Crittenden County Detention Center does not always mean walking free into Marion. A person may post bond, finish a sentence, receive probation, leave after a dismissal, transfer to the Kentucky Department of Corrections, or pass to another county or federal custodian. State prisoners housed in the county building can also leave under KDOC authority. The correct record is the document that identifies the disposition and destination, not merely the absence of a name from the current roster.
The official detention-center inmate-search page leads to Crittenden's JailTracker tenant. That tool is a current-custody roster. Once a record drops away, searchers need the jail release sheet, court order, KDOC record, or receiving-agency record. A transfer remains custody. Work release and a weekender program also remain custody because the participant must return.

KDOC's Daily Releases archive uses a narrower field set: first, middle, and last name, release type, and location. It can identify a state-tracked release from the county detention center. It does not contain each local bond-out, dismissal, or short county sentence.
Request Crittenden County Release Records
Kentucky's open-records inspection law, KRS 61.872, supplies the general right and process for requesting existing public records. Custody still matters. The elected jailer operates the detention center, while the sheriff's published policy governs sheriff-held arrest and incident records. Do not assume one office holds the other's release log.

Crittenden County Detention Center is at 208 W. Carlisle Street, Marion, KY 42064, and its published telephone is 270-965-3185. No jail-specific online request form, fixed fee, or guaranteed email channel was found. Confirm the custodian and accepted delivery method first. The Crittenden County Sheriff's policy calls for a written, signed, specific request and says the office responds within five days excluding weekends and legal holidays. Its listed paper-copy charge is ten cents per released page. Those terms should be applied only to sheriff-held material.
Crittenden Release Records After Expungement
A public record can become unavailable for a lawful reason. Kentucky Courts explains that qualifying dismissals with prejudice and acquittals entered on or after July 15, 2020 are automatically expunged after 30 days, except traffic matters. The distribution of an expungement reaches Kentucky State Police, the arresting agency, and the local jail. A no-result can therefore reflect the intended legal effect rather than prove no custody event existed.

Ask only for existing records and accept the custodian's written basis if all or part is withheld.

If the name has vanished, obtain the local release disposition. Then check KOOL for a person with a DOC or PID record, VINE for a custody event, and the court file for the order behind the exit. Federal and immigration paths apply only when those authorities had custody.

KOOL covers Kentucky corrections records, not every person booked in the county jail. Search by name, DOC number, or PID number, then compare identity, location, offender type, supervision status, and date fields. Advanced controls include aliases, photos only, county of supervision, conviction details, institution or supervision begin dates, escape or abscond dates, and projected-release ranges. Crittenden appears as a county-of-supervision choice, but the detail record should determine the actual office.

For a local pretrial detainee with no KDOC record, a negative KOOL result is expected. Use the detention release sheet and Crittenden court file. For a state-tracked person released from the county building, KOOL and the dated Daily Releases report can corroborate each other.
Crittenden County Recent Release Search
No official Crittenden County 24-hour, 72-hour, or general recent-release feed was verified. The current roster must not be relabeled as a released list. The 24-Hour Releases and 72-Hour Releases workflows instead combine the jail record, VINE, court action, and date-specific KDOC reports.
KDOC's archive is a useful partial substitute because reports sometimes name Crittenden County Detention Center as the location. Its silence cannot establish that no local release occurred that day. County bond-outs and other ordinary local exits can fall outside KDOC scope, and a transfer-type entry does not mean the person entered the community.
When Crittenden County Bond Starts Release
The detention center's older official bond instructions route weekday payments during 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. through the Circuit Court Clerk and after-hours payments through the jail kiosk. A dated Crittenden Press report from July 24, 2023 says the jail began accepting cash bonds up to $9,850 around the clock. Because the two sources describe different procedures at different times, call the jail or clerk before traveling or paying.
The captured official page shows why the current payment channel needs confirmation. Payment may begin an exit process, but processing, identity checks, paperwork, and another hold can delay or prevent release. Bond also does not resolve the criminal charge.
Why Crittenden Releases Cross Systems
Crittenden's jail population is unusually mixed. A May 2025 fiscal-court census reported daily averages of 69.1 state prisoners, 51.4 federal prisoners, 26.7 prisoners held for other counties, and 13.9 Crittenden prisoners, for a total average of 161.1. The reported high was 174 and the low was 151. These are population figures, not release totals, but they show why the building name alone cannot identify legal custody.
A local detainee may need only the jail and court paths. A state prisoner can move through KOOL and KDOC Daily Releases. Someone held for another county must be followed to that county, while a federal pretrial person may be under U.S. Marshals authority without appearing as a sentenced BOP prisoner. The release sheet's destination is the bridge between systems.
Crittenden Release Orders Across Courts
Felony research may cross two Kentucky court levels. District Court handles arraignment and probable-cause proceedings, while Circuit Court handles felony prosecution. Search both stages before concluding that a case or release order is missing. The KYeCourts guest case search is the public entry point for docket research.
The guest entry helps locate the case, but certified records come from the clerk. Proceedings currently occur at Marion City Hall Council Chamber, 217 S. Main Street, while the temporary records office is at 208 S. Main Street. The clerk can supply bond orders, conditions, dispositions, judgments, time-served credit, probation orders, and expungement orders.
Crittenden Work Release Is Custody
KDOC reporting separates 133 secure beds at the detention center from 39 beds at the Crittenden Restricted Custody Center. The official work-release and weekender material describes authorized departures followed by a required return. A work participant seen away from the secure jail has not necessarily received final discharge, and a weekender can serve repeated 48-hour custody periods until the sentence is complete.

The page also lists a $32 daily housing charge for the specified work-release and weekender context. It is not a general fee charged to every released detainee. Final release still needs a jail or KDOC record and, when applicable, the court or Parole Board authority behind it.
Crittenden Post-Release Supervision Records
Parole is conditional community release authorized through the Kentucky Parole Board. Probation is a court-ordered community sentence or placement. KDOC's Division of Probation and Parole administers community supervision, and KOOL uses specific labels such as parole, regular probation, shock probation, mandatory reentry, and post-incarceration supervision. Use the displayed term instead of calling each released person a parolee.

Crittenden Release Alerts and Federal Records
Kentucky VINE through VINELink can carry a county-jail record and a separate DOC record for the same person. Check both. Notifications are useful, but Kentucky documented a vendor error that caused false release alerts on February 3, 2026. Corroborate an alert with the jail, KOOL, a dated report, or the underlying order.
The BOP Inmate Locator covers sentenced federal prisoners and reports release or location information for records since 1982. It does not settle every federal pretrial case housed locally. U.S. Marshals records and PACER can supply that trail. ICE's locator covers current detention and a limited post-release period, but Crittenden County Detention Center was not verified as an ICE facility.

A federal locator result must be matched by identifier and agency. A local roster entry described only as federal does not reveal whether BOP, USMS, or another custodian controls the next event.

Crittenden County Release Facilities
The Crittenden County Detention Center is the secure county facility and houses local, other-county, state, and federal populations. The Crittenden Restricted Custody Center is a separate lower-security component for qualifying men. Its authorized community activity must not be confused with discharge.
